Desert Star Systems is offering a line of acoustic modems optimized for the exchange of small amounts of data between an underwater instrument or vehicle and the surface, or within an underwater network. Our modems are optimized for small size, low power consumption and a low price tag. The modems are frequently used in shallow water / horizontal path environments which present a challenge for many acoustic modems. Typical applications include the remote trigger of underwater devices, reporting of low and moderate volume sensor data, and status and control of AUV. The modems are also well suited to establish an 'underwater teletype', for terminal type interaction with instruments or written message exchange with a submersible crew.
