The solid architectural foundation and modularity of our technology enables you to benefit from our long investment in underwater technologies. Custom and optimized systems are an option for requirements that are not well served by our standard system but can benefit from our technology, or to minimize costs for higher volume applications. Bare electronics modules of our standard products are ideal for manufacturers and researchers seeking integration of positioning, telemetry and data acquisition functions in underwater vehicles or instruments.

If you have an application that is not well served by a standard product, we encourage you to contact us. Task specific designs may range from slight modifications of a standard product, to a full custom hardware and software solution.

• Our systems are software driven. Special applications can often be implemented on standard hardware requiring only some modifications to the software. We will often implement minor modifications free of charge as a part of a system purchase. Larger modifications require a one time engineering charge (NRE), or are negotiated into the price of a multi-system purchase.

• Some applications may require hardware modifications of the electronics modules, sonar transducers or housings. Special hardware can be developed in short order based on our library of standard design blocks. After payment of a NRE, the new hardware is available to you as a standard catalog item. No NRE is charged if a sufficiently large number of systems are purchased.

• Custom hardware and software designs are appropriate as a performance enhancement and cost-reduction measure for jobs where a larger number of units are required. Significant cost savings can result from the streamlining of a standard product.

The use of electronics modules streamlines your equipment and reduces costs. A variety of standard electronics modules are available and we will also develop specialized modules to suit your requirements. Past applications for bare modules have included acoustic telemetry links, AUV positioning, ROV tracking, torpedo counter measures and whale tracking tags.

If you are an underwater vehicle or system manufacturer, you may qualify for our OEM program. Under this program, we provide qualified customers with technical assistance and pricing discounts for integration of Desert Star products in underwater vehicles and platforms that are manufactured for resale.

Our growing line of technology is frequently applicable to non-positioning requirements. Past examples include a digital acoustic listening station and a mixed gas decompression computer.
