Baseline Stations

AquaMap™ ROV operations start with the deployment of three baseline stations around the perimeter of the work site. These stations work as reference points for navigation. Select the compact RBS-1 or the extended mission RBS-2 baseline station with acoustic release mechanism option.

ROV Transponder

The ROV transponder measures the vehicle position by interrogating the baseline stations. The pressure-housed VLT-3 transponder is easily attached to any ROV. Transponder modules are available for internal mounting, such as in Solex Robotic’s Maverick tank inspection ROV.

Position Data

The ROV transponder transmits position data up the umbilical using a single twisted wire pair. This hybrid sonar / electric architecture and the elimination of the acoustic path to the surface results in excellent position fixes at any depth.

Bitmap & Vector Charts

The ROV position is shown against the backdrop of the dive site. Bitmap and vector charts are supported. Depth is color-coded and also displayed in a graph. Zoom and pan functions give a detailed look of minute ROV movements anywhere on the work site. Even ROV heading and attitude can be sensed and displayed when using an optional attitude sensor. All data is stored for replay or export to analysis software.

System Selector Guide
AM-11 This compact AquaMap(tm) system is designed for operations lasting up to 20 hours. The system includes one VLT-3 ROV station, three RBS-1 baseline stations, accessories, and carrying case.
AM-12 For longer operations in deeper water. Up to 160 hours of operation on a battery charge. High power options for extended range. Acoustic release mechanism for easy baseline station recovery. Includes three RBS-2 baseline stations with ARM-2 release mechanism, one VLT-3 ROV station, accessories and a rugged shipping container.
STM-10 This optional surface station can be used with any AquaMap(tm) ROV system. It extends the system capabilities to include precision surface vessel positioning, short baseline ROV tracking, and emergency ROV recovery in case of umbilical breakage.
